The Last Diaperpouch

Well, it's probably not the very last, but the last for now. I'm done with the pouches for now! I made this one for the dynamic duo, since they are now using the same size diaper I really don't need separate pouches any more.

I used the little golden books fabric that I bought a long time ago. Don't you just love it? How's that for nostalgia!

The munchkin is off to kindergarten, my baby boy went back to bed, so now the Apple craze will continue... My ipad is still naked when not in use, so I'll need to make it a nice jacket...

No. 2

Diaper pouch no. 2 found its way to a new owner today. We went over to admire a new friend, Yenthe, a pretty little girl that loves to cuddle. But boy, can she fill a diaper!!! The mommy had a pouch for Yenthe's brother, but nobody wants to search frantically for the right size diapers with a smelly baby on your arm. So two pouches is no luxury!

Back to the sewing machine

Lately I have been into sewing again. Not just the binky bunnies, but I still needed to make a diaper pouch for a friends sister. I promised it to her a long time ago, but lack of time and lack of inspiration made me push the assignment to the back of my mind. But since we are going to see a friend together tomorrow, I decided to stop putting it off. And I'm glad I did! I love the way it turned out! I made two more, but those are not finished yet. I'll show you those tomorrow!

Poro, this one is for you!!!

1 year old!!!

Yay! Our little boy is officially not a baby anymore... Bas turned one today. He got lots of presents that he, quite unexpectedly, liked more than the wrapping paper. Like his sister, he got his own cake that he could play with, and he ate lots of 'poffertjes' (like small pancakes, typically Dutch) for dinner. He had a great time, and he fell asleep as soon as we put him down. A small impression of the cake-fest:

Of course I used the mystery item that I showed you yesterday... It is made so that I can change the name and the age, multi-functional, so I can use it for his sister as well!!!

We're back!!!

Hi y'all!!! I know I promised to post during my holiday, but we just had too much fun. No seriously, the internet connection in our hotel would blow up every few minutes, so after about seven attempts I decided to call it a day. Sorry, I didn't mean to neglect you all.

We had a lovely week though, I'll post some pics of the dynamic duo tomorrow. Today I am still in denial, trying not to see the huge piles of laundry that four (or really, two-and-three-quarters) people can produce in a week. I decided that tomorrow I would start to do something creative and crafty again, but I couldn't help myself so my first batch of cookies is already finished. I have so much inspiration, after a week of no craftiness at all!!!

Tuesday, my little boy will be celebrating his first birthday... Not sure what I'll make for him...

More tomorrow (or even tonight)!

Sorry...

Sorry I didn't post for two days! That is not like me! You may have guessed that I am enjoying a well-deserved vacation! Meanwhile, I would like to share some really cool stuff from other people, like these cool DIY pop-up cards!

Cookie stamp

Another idea I had... I see people make lovely gift tags using clay and stamps. I figured you could do the same with cookies. So I carved an easy stamp and made a batch of bear-cookies! You do need a dough that makes firm cookies. I use this recipe:

200 grams butter
200 grams sugar
400 grams flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla essence
A pinch of salt

All ingredients need to be at room temperature. Mix the butter and the sugar, stir well. Mix in the egg and the vanilla essence. Stir well. Add the flour and the salt. Knead until you have a nice dough. Leave in the fridge to set minimum 2 hours. Roll out and cut cookies and use a stamp if you want to! Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees celcius for about 13 minutes.

This is the end result of my cookies!

Valentine

In the spirit of Valentines day I made two small needlefelted hearts for my little girl. They are now hanging from her chest of drawers. She hasn't even noticed them yet!!!

Granny squares blanket...

It's a good thing my mommy taught me not to swear, because when I went to the craftstore today to buy more wool for the granny square blanket I was working on, they were out of the light grey that I used. So I don't know what I'll do with the finished squares... Except share them with you...

Binky bunny giftwrap

Yesterday I sold a binky bunny, so I had to come up with a nice way to wrap it. I used kraft paper and a couple of my prints. I would smile if I got this in the mail!

Gingerbread house

Today we went to see my husbands grandmother. She's 94 years old and just moved house. She's a really sweet old lady, who loves knitting and embroidery. I made her a nice gingerbread house to celebrate the move and added the cross stitched house as a gift tag. I hope she likes it!

A new book

Some time ago I added some leather covered notebooks to my Etsy shop. I love those, I am one of those people who like their notebooks to close in a way that the pages can't be damaged. But if you look for such a notebook on Etsy, you'll only find leather. And I think that leather covered notebooks are kind of boring (love 'em too, kind of a love-hate relationship, hehehehe). I prefer fabric covers. I've been thinking for a long time now how to make such a cover. I tried something that didn't come out as nice as I wanted it. So I started to figure out what makes leather such a nice material to work with in that way.

And last night, at 11.35, I finally found the answer and I was really frustrated that I had to wait until today to try it out!!!

I used olive coloured wool felt and 100% cotton fabric for the cover. I made a pocket on the front for business cards and snaps to shut it. I'm not sure I want to put it on Etsy, because I really like it myself. But then again, I really can't keep them all...

I always wanted to try...

I have always wanted to try this... i love the little felt animals that some people can make... So I bought some wool and a felting needle and off I went! An hour later I had made my first needle felted animal! Yay!

I couldn't go to bed without making him a little friend though. So on I went with a little pink elephant.

Finally!!!

You know, the thing is... I wanted an Ipad ever since Apple made the first announcement about this delightful little gadget... And on Dec. 31st I finally bought one!!! And it is the best toy EVER (apart from my kids, of course)!!! And good toys need good care. It took me five days and three plastic sheets to get the screenprotector on (damn the dust that got caught under it!!!) and now I have been thinking about making my own ipad sleeve.

So maybe you can imagine that I have been obsessed with apples lately??? ;-)

I decided to carve a stamp for my Ipad sleeve. And it turned out so well that I decided to make some notecards and put them in my etsy shop. I still haven't decided what the sleeve should look like...

More apples tomorrow!!!

Another house

On the BBC there is a show called "escape to the country", where people seek to leave the city to move to a more rural area, usually with a disturbingly high budget. How do they do it, and what am I doing wrong??? Anyway, a few years ago they showed a little country house called "Rose Cottage". I never forgot about that name, it sounded so sweet! I do have a thing for roses, my little girl is called Roos, which is Dutch for Rose, so it was just a matter of time before I would make my own Rose Cottage... And here it is... Still not completely satisfied, but it's a start. I am planning to make a victorian house next, I have already picked out the colors...Again, if you want the chart, let me know!!!

Books 'r Us

There are days that I feel like a warehouse! I told you some time ago that I bought some leather and I have been making books with those using my really totally cool Hoppin' Up buttons! And I have also made a cover with the delft blue and tulips patchwork... I'll give you some examples:

More binky bunnies!!!

Oh yes, I have made two more, since my little boy loves his so much! It really needs to go in the laundry, but he really clings to it... So I made two more, using terry cloth, so they are nice and soft and snuggly! He loves the one with the ladybugs. I made some more to put on Etsy, too. A friend that I sent one told me that her baby loves it too, it even helps him to fall asleep. Yay! Always glad to help a fellow mum!

This one has a terry cloth front and a ladybug back...
